The Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs said that the racist attack committed by extremist settlers on the walls of the Armenian Patriarchate in occupied Jerusalem, by writing phrases calling for revenge and death for Arabs, Armenians and Christians, is an inevitable result of hate speech and hateful incitement.
The committee stressed in a statement on Thursday that the crimes of hate, incitement, and desecration of Islamic and Christian sanctities in Jerusalem, as well as the continued targeting of the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron, in addition to the execution of our people by the occupation government, warn beyond any doubt that this government seeks to transform the conflict into a religious conflict that will blow up the entire region, and no one will be spared from its consequences, which requires holding it accountable and deterring it.
The committee added that the criminal attacks fueled by racist hate speech derived from the extremist occupation government’s programme continue and are concentrated in the city of Jerusalem, its land, its people, its symbols and its religious sites.
She explained that these attacks began with the racist Ben Gvir storming the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, desecrating its sanctity, calling for changing the status quo there, violating the sanctity of Islamic and Christian cemeteries, and most recently vandalizing dozens of Christian graves on the outskirts of the Old City of Jerusalem.
The Committee called on the churches of the world and all believers to reject and condemn these crimes committed against the Palestinian people, Muslims and Christians, and which target their holy sites, cemeteries, land and property through racist laws that legitimize the seizure of lands, the construction of settlements on them, and the piracy of Palestinian funds.
She pointed out that all these crimes and attacks are sponsored, financed, supported, facilitated, and even participated in by the extremist and aggressive Israeli government.
She stressed the need to take a firm stance that is consistent with the principles of justice and upholds the values of the civilized world in the face of those who want to drag the region into the square of hateful fanaticism.
She said: “In light of these condemned and denounced policies and actions adopted and implemented by the occupation government, it has become necessary for all parties keen on peace and security in the world, especially the UN Security Council and influential countries, to bear responsibility and take immediate and urgent measures and procedures to put an end to these Israeli policies and procedures.”
She called for deterring the pillars of that government, imposing sanctions on it, besieging it and confronting it to save the region from the dark future that awaits it with this fascist group, which is leading it towards a new phase of deterioration, instability, chaos and wars that the racist fascist government in “Israel” is trying to ignite.
