The National and Civil Action Authority in Jerusalem called on Palestinians to boycott attending the celebration of the United States Independence Day, which will be held on the 30th of this month in Jerusalem.
The National and Civil Action Authority in Jerusalem said in a statement, Jerusalem News Agency A copy of it, that the US administration led by US President Joe Biden declares day and night that it is in favor of the political solution based on the two-state solution, considering that this repeated declaration is a translation of the promises and principles that are not committed to anything other than the security of the occupying state, and the rest of the promises are merely selling illusions to the Palestinian people and leadership.
The statement added that the US administration did not reopen its consulate in the eastern part of Jerusalem, which confirms that there is no difference between the previous and current administrations. It also did not reopen the PLO office in Washington, and continues to place the organization on the terrorism list with unprecedented impudence.
The National Authority wondered, “How can the US administration be the exclusive sponsor of futile negotiations that have lasted for more than a quarter of a century while it considers the representative of the people whose land is occupied a terrorist? Rather, it has established a special representative office to deal with our Palestinian people within the US embassy that was moved to Jerusalem in a blatant challenge and departure from international legitimacy resolutions.”
The Authority continued in its statement, “This new representative office has invited Palestinian leaders, figures, civil society activists and people to attend the celebration of the United States Independence Day. We, as a people, a national and civil action body in Jerusalem, congratulate the American people on the anniversary of their Independence Day and their national day. However, it is reprehensible that the United States insists on double standards and dealing with double standards and even inferiority with our Palestinian people. The newly established American representative office to deal with our Palestinian people has invited us as Palestinians to celebrate this day, on June 30 of this month, at the “Notre Dame” Hotel in occupied Jerusalem, which precedes the official celebration of American Independence Day on July 4, 2022, which will take place inside the illegitimate American embassy in the city of Jerusalem.”
The statement considered that choosing the Notre Dame Hotel as the venue for the celebration, which is located within the neutral zones in international law, represents further denial by the US administration of the rights of the Palestinian people and submission to the desires of the occupying state.
The National Committee for the Comprehensive Boycott called for the celebration, which expresses disdain for the Palestinian people and their rights, and confirms that the American administration does not deal with the Palestinians as a people with a national and political cause and rights, and that Jerusalem is not an occupied city according to international law, according to the text of the statement.
