At a time when millions of families and families in the Islamic world are preparing to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, and with children in various Islamic countries anticipating Eid gifts from their parents, the Israeli occupation authorities have refused to spoil the joy of Eid for dozens of Jerusalemites and their families, who are liberated prisoners.
At dawn today, Monday, Israeli intelligence and occupation forces launched a campaign of raids that included several areas in occupied Jerusalem, such as: Al-Tur, Al-Issawiya, and Al-Sawwaneh neighborhood.
The repressive campaign carried out by the occupation security services targeted dozens of homes of Jerusalemites, former prisoners and those liberated from the Zionist occupation prisons.
The occupation forces carried out confiscations and robberies of the property of the liberated prisoners, including money, cars, and other possessions, under the pretext of receiving them from the Palestinian Authority. This systematic repressive campaign was accompanied by acts of sabotage and intimidation against the families of the liberated Jerusalemite prisoners.
According to documentation carried out by the Jerusalem News Agency, the campaign of looting and confiscations included 16 liberated prisoners, namely: Basil Obaidat, Musa Fatafta, Yaqoub Abu Asab, Omar Obaid, Alaa Salah, Izz al-Din Barbar, his son Abd al-Rahim Barbar, and Ghazi Kanaan. , Muhammad Odeh, Muhammad Mustafa, Majd Karaki, Anas Abu Sneina, Ahmed Manasra, Hassan Khalfawi, Muhammad Obaid, and Muhammad Al-Abbasi.
The Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Authority denounced what the occupation forces carried out, on Monday, 6/26/2023, by storming the homes of dozens of prisoners and ex-Jerusalem prisoners, and confiscating a large number of their property, sums of money, and personal belongings.
The Commission said in a statement, “This barbaric behavior reflects the state of confusion that the occupation and its apparatuses are experiencing in the face of the will and steadfastness of the prisoners, and a miserable attempt to break the will of their families and loved ones.”
It indicated that the occupation forces deliberately destroyed the contents of those houses, and demanded that their owners hand over sums of money that they claimed the families of the prisoners had received from “terrorist” organizations.
The Zionist occupation authorities use the pretext of receiving money from “banned” parties, such as the Palestinian Authority or the Palestine Liberation Organization, or “terrorist” parties, such as the Hamas and Islamic Jihad movements, according to the Zionist view, to carry out raids and intimidation operations that usually accompany the approaching holiday seasons. With the aim of striking the popular situation in Jerusalem and burning its awareness.
