After several Palestinian media outlets reported that the teachers’ movement intends to return to strikes and protest steps, including those steps in Jerusalem schools affiliated with the Palestinian Ministry of Education, the national and Islamic forces in occupied Jerusalem issued a statement to all Jerusalemites and those responsible for the education sector in Jerusalem and the West Bank.

The forces confirmed in their statement that the demands of the teachers’ movement are legitimate, but the movement’s escalatory steps prompted hundreds of students from Palestinian education schools in Jerusalem to prepare to leave them and move to the occupation municipal schools that teach the distorted curriculum or those that teach the “Israeli” curriculum, where their numbers reached what Approximately 700 students.

At the same time, approximately 150 teachers submitted their resignations in addition to open leave requests, and approximately 25 classroom sections in Jerusalem schools have been closed to date.

The forces said in their statement: “These dangerous preliminary data that threaten the Palestinian education sector in the city of Jerusalem should knock on the tank of disaster and portend the failure of the next academic season.”

The statement added: “Those who hold positions and responsibility for Palestinian education in Jerusalem know that most of the students who drop out of our national schools are directed by most of the students’ parents to municipal schools and by the occupation’s knowledge that fights the Palestinian narrative, in addition to obliterating personal identity and connection to Palestinian history by teaching the distorted curriculum and the Israeli curriculum.” .

The statement reminded the decision-makers regarding the educational process in Jerusalem that what the Jerusalemite teacher receives in our national schools does not meet his minimum family obligations, and stressed that protecting the Palestinian curriculum and the minds of Jerusalemite students from Israelization and the distortion and “cauterization” of their awareness does not occur through media statements and statements.

The national and Islamic forces called on the teachers’ movement to assume their national responsibilities, excluding Jerusalem’s teachers from any upcoming strikes in order to preserve what remains of education in Jerusalem.

The statement concluded by saying: “This may be a step forward in your support, and we raise our voice with yours to restore the Palestinian teacher in Jerusalem his full and undiminished rights.”
