On the day of Arafah, Saturday 6/15/2024, an occupation police vehicle toured Al-Aqsa Mosque, raising the Zionist flag in a show of alleged sovereignty over it. This comes after decades in which the occupation police had prevented the entry and raising of the Zionist flag inside Al-Aqsa Mosque for fear of the provocation and reaction that this might bring.
The occupation police began to practically change its procedures regarding raising the Zionist flag in Al-Aqsa starting in the summer of 2022, as it began to protect the settlers who raise it and allow the singing of the Zionist national anthem “Hatikvah” collectively while raising it, and today it is moving towards a new step in changing the “status quo” by raising the flag on its light vehicles that impose their presence by force in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa.
The occupation police imposed the permanent presence of its light vehicles in 2016, as they were not present in Al-Aqsa before that date. The aim of imposing them is to demonstrate its control over Al-Aqsa and enable its elements to move in it more freely. It also often uses them to restrict worshipers, specifically at the gates of Al-Aqsa located in the western corridor, by intensifying their movement during the influx of worshipers to the mosque.
