The head of the Jerusalem Committee against Judaization, Nasser al-Hadmi, said that the occupation is targeting Jerusalem neighborhoods through a policy of demolition and construction prevention.
Al-Hidmi explained that the occupation policy works to target the Palestinian presence in occupied Jerusalem, and is keen to create a reality in which construction takes place without a license, to force the Jerusalemites out of the law.
He stated that the self-demolition policy avoids the occupation from confrontations with the Palestinians, and exempts it from facing charges of demolishing homes or facilities before international courts.
Al-Hidmi explained that one of the occupation municipality’s justifications for not granting building permits to Jerusalemites is based on the structural map it created for the city of Jerusalem.
He continued, saying: “According to this map, we find that all residential neighborhoods in Jerusalem are being targeted by surrounding them with public parks and green spaces in which construction is prohibited, and they are left for occupation purposes.”
