The Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine described the attack on the cemetery of the Evangelical Episcopal Church in Jerusalem as “barbaric,” denouncing the desecration of the sanctity of graves and the breaking of crosses.

The head of the presidential committee, Ramzi Khoury, said that this attack is “racist and extremist, and is a continuation of Israel and its settlers’ violation of the sanctity of holy sites.”

"Khoury" said in a statement received by “Beit Al-Maqdis News Agency” On Wednesday, other places of cemeteries and Islamic and Christian places of worship were subjected to multiple violations, including verbal and physical assault on clerics.

He added: "These racist and extremist actions by the settlers are a natural result of the fascist Israeli governments, which provide them with protection and cover to implement their plans and endeavors."

He considered that the attack on the Episcopal Cemetery comes within the settlers' efforts to Judaize the Holy City (Jerusalem), and to pressure it to empty its original inhabitants.

He pointed out the need for the United Nations to take a “deterrent stance” towards these “racist” actions of the settlers, which are sponsored by successive Israeli governments.

He renewed the concerns of the “heads of local churches” about the escalation of extremism that threatens the Palestinian presence in Jerusalem.
