Several days ago, the “Israeli” Knesset approved the preliminary reading of the draft law withdrawing citizenship from Prisoners Jerusalem and the occupied interior, and their deportation to the occupied West Bank, if it is proven that they receive salaries from the authority.

According to what Hebrew websites reported, the draft law withdrawing citizenship from prisoners who receive allocations from the authority was approved by consensus between the coalition and the opposition.

The websites explained that the draft law stipulates that if a person is convicted of a “national charge” and an actual prison sentence is imposed on him, his citizenship or permanent residence permit will be withdrawn upon proof that he received money from the authority, and he will also be deported to the authority’s areas after he finishes serving his sentence.

One of the dangerous aspects of this law is that it will pave the way for the occupation to implement a policy of deporting thousands of Palestinians, whether current, freed or former prisoners, outside the borders of the occupied interior and Jerusalem, and this may be one of the occupation’s tools to implement a campaign of forced displacement against Jerusalemites.
