The Europeans for Jerusalem Foundation documented 1,301 violations distributed over 17 types of human rights violations, committed by the Israeli occupation army in the Jerusalem Governorate, during the month of last January.

The human rights organization said in its monthly report on violations that it received:Sanad News AgencyAccording to a copy of it, it observed a significant increase in Israeli violations in the city of Jerusalem during January 2023.

At the forefront of these violations are: Incursions and raids at a rate of 23.9%, followed by arrests at a rate of 14.4%, according to the report.

The report monitored 97 shooting incidents and direct attacks in the neighborhoods of Jerusalem, which led to the death of 5 Palestinians, including two children, and the wounding of 98 with varying injuries and dozens of cases of suffocation, in addition to the exposure of at least 115 citizens to beatings and abuse.

The occupation army carried out 311 raids into the towns and neighborhoods of Jerusalem, during which it arrested 187 citizens, including children and women, summoned 127 others, and imposed house arrest on 37 people, the majority of whom were children.

The report counted 40 demolition operations and the distribution of notices, which resulted in the demolition of 8 houses, including 4 whose owners were forced to self-demolish them, and a house whose internal contents were destroyed as a result of collective retaliation.

In addition to the demolitions, the destruction of 18 facilities, land leveling, and the distribution of dozens of demolition notices, halting construction, and evictions.

The “Europeans for Jerusalem” report pointed out that the occupation and settlers seized 5 plots of Palestinian land, including a vehicle in the neighborhoods of Jerusalem, last January.

The report monitored 8 decisions and bulldozing operations aimed at changing the identity of Jerusalem and its Arab-Islamic character, the most dangerous of which are the excavations and Judaization works in the vicinity of the Old City and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, especially the Damascus Gate area.

The report explained that these works “came within the plans of the occupation municipality to bring about significant and tangible changes in the character and identity of Jerusalem, aiming to change the features of the Damascus Gate area, as it constitutes a main entrance to the Old City and Al-Aqsa.”

The raids on Al-Aqsa Mosque...

Regarding the violation of the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, the report stated that 4,517 settlers and tens of thousands under the name “tourists” participated in the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque, which was repeated over 23 days during the month.

He documented 16 attacks against Al-Aqsa Mosque, the most serious of which were the demands of “Temple groups” to impose a new fait accompli on the mosque, and the storming of its courtyards by the extremist Israeli Minister of “National Security,” Itamar Ben Gvir, a few days after he assumed his position in the new occupation government.

The occupation authorities continued their policy of deportation from Al-Aqsa and the city of Jerusalem, and last January they issued 27 deportation decisions, 4 of which targeted women.

The report counted 16 attacks carried out by settlers, most notably storming the joint Protestant cemetery of the Evangelical and Lutheran churches, in the Mount Zion area, in central-eastern Jerusalem, destroying crosses and uprooting the headstones of 30 graves there.

The Europeans for Jerusalem Foundation monitored 94 fixed and sudden checkpoints, 17 street closures, 10 travel ban decisions, a public meeting ban, and 3 collective punishment measures implemented by the occupation in Jerusalem during the same period.
