Hardly a week passes, or even several weeks, in the occupied city of Jerusalem, without a new demolition massacre carried out by the occupation municipality, in which some promote the involvement of Jerusalemites in its municipal elections. The pretexts for demolition vary, but the most prominent is without dispute the pretext of “building without a permit,” given the impossible conditions for issuing permits. Construction is for Jerusalemites, and many of Jerusalem’s lands are classified as “green areas” in which construction is prohibited. Jerusalemites tend to challenge the occupation and construction authorities to preserve their natural right to shelter, but in some cases the occupation demolishes homes and facilities despite their owners submitting objections to the occupation municipality.
With the escalation in the pace of demolition in Jerusalem, under the current Zionist occupation government, the current month of June witnessed an escalation in demolition operations, as the Maata Center documented 15 demolition operations in Jerusalem, since the beginning of this month, including 5 in Silwan.
Jerusalem News Network, in the context of its documentation of the ongoing demolition massacre in Jerusalem, documented, yesterday, Wednesday, a new demolition massacre carried out by bulldozers and vehicles of the Zionist occupation in Jerusalem.
The demolition massacre began this morning, when occupation bulldozers, accompanied by police forces, stormed the Shuafat camp and demolished a retaining wall for the Jerusalemite, Shaher Alqam.
This was followed by the occupation forces storming the town of Al-Tur, east of Jerusalem, where the occupation forces carried out a demolition of two rooms on the roof of one of the buildings there, which belonged to Murad Abu Sbitan.
It is worth noting that, yesterday, Tuesday, the occupation bulldozers demolished two apartments for the Al-Tawil family in Silwan, displacing 15 Jerusalemites from them.
