The Palestinian Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs issued its annual report on the reality of the occupation’s violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Ibrahimi Mosque, and other places of worship during the year 2023, describing it as a difficult and harsh year.
The report addressed the attacks launched by the Israeli occupation against mosques and Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip.
Regarding occupied Jerusalem, the Endowments said in a statement on Sunday that the number of raids on Al-Aqsa Mosque during the past year reached 258, and tens of thousands of settlers stormed Al-Aqsa.
According to the statement, the “Israeli” attacks did not stop there, as the occupation authorities developed many Judaization plans in the vicinity of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City, and issued dozens of deportation decisions for the mosque’s guards, its guards, the marabouts, the marabouts, and citizens.
The annual report indicated that the occupation authorities turned Al-Aqsa Mosque and its surroundings into a military barracks, especially on “Jewish holidays,” and attacked the safe worshipers there, sometimes with assault and beating, and sometimes with arrest and deportation. In the month of Ramadan, the occupation authorities practiced a policy of beatings and violence by attacking large numbers of fasting believers. Which came to Al-Aqsa to practice their worship and rituals in peace and security, so they attacked them with clubs and rubber bullets, besieged the Al-Qibli prayer hall more than once, and threw tear gas bombs through the windows, which they smashed.
As stated in the report, the occupation attacked the endowment land in the Al-Baqaan site in the lands of the town of Anata, north of Jerusalem, where it demolished facilities for tenants at the entrance to the town of Anata, causing significant property losses, noting that the demolition work is taking place for the sixth time on this endowment land.
Regarding Christian sanctities in Jerusalem, the report stated that settlers stormed the “The Imprisonment of Christ” church in Jerusalem and destroyed its contents, while they also attacked a cemetery belonging to the Evangelical Episcopal Church in Jerusalem, desecrating the sanctity of the graves there.
Dozens of colonists also stormed the Birk Suleiman Waqf area, located between the towns of Artas and Al-Khader in Bethlehem, under the protection of the occupation forces, and performed Talmudic rituals in the place.
