Yesterday evening, Saturday, Jerusalemite sources announced that the freed prisoner, Sheikh Zakaria Najib, had died as a martyr, shot by the Israeli occupation forces in the vicinity of the Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City.

The occupation army claimed, in a statement by its spokesman, yesterday, Saturday, that 3 leaders of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) were assassinated during its ongoing aggression against the Al-Shifa Medical Complex, including two of the editors of the (Wafa Al-Ahrar) deal.

Several hours after the occupation’s statement, the family of the prisoner Zakaria Najib from Jerusalem announced his martyrdom, and his martyr’s son said in a post on the “Facebook” platform: “Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, that the honor of my father, Zakaria Lutfi Najib, is with the honor of martyrdom. The martyrdom of my father, my beloved, and the apple of my patient, Mujahid’s eye bled. Coming unplanned.”

Zakaria Najib, a Jerusalemite prisoner, spent 17 years in occupation prisons after the occupation arrested him in 1994 and “accused” him of membership in a cell affiliated with the Martyr Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades in Jerusalem that kidnapped the occupation soldier, “Nahshon Faxman,” and killed him.

After Najib's liberation, he went to reside in Turkey and then Gaza. He was one of the specialists in Jerusalem affairs and working on the issue of Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
