Former Jerusalem MP Dr. Ahmed Attoun embraced freedom today, Wednesday, after a year of administrative detention in the occupation prisons.

 

The Israeli occupation forces arrested Attoun from his home, which he has been deported from Jerusalem since 2010, in Bethlehem on 5/11/2023. 

Attoun was arrested by the occupation 13 times, and his total years of detention amounted to about 14 years. 

Attoun was attacked at the moment of his arrest and was subjected to harsh interrogation by occupation intelligence before he was transferred to administrative detention. 

Ahmed Attoun is 56 years old and a resident of the town of Sur Baher, south of Jerusalem. He is married and has 5 sons and daughters. 

Attoun holds a master’s degree in Islamic studies from Al-Quds Abu Dis University, and is active in community work and advocacy. 

After Ahmed Attoun won the Legislative Council elections for the Reform and Change bloc affiliated with the Hamas movement, his journey began with arrest and deportation from Jerusalem.
