The Islamic Christian Organization for the Support of Jerusalem and the Sanctities condemned the decisions of the occupation authorities to impose taxes on Christian churches in Jerusalem and inside Palestine.

The authority said in a statement today, Monday, a copy of which was received by Bayt al-Maqdis News, that the occupation brought back to the fore a decision that it had frozen years ago to impose exorbitant taxes on Christian churches in Jerusalem, Nazareth, Ramla, and Jaffa, threatening the churches to take legal measures against them due to non-payment of taxes. “.

The Commission warned of the repercussions of this decision and the new, unprecedented targeting of the Christian presence, which may extend to Islamic holy sites and endowment properties.

The Commission added that the occupation authorities, through these decisions, target the existing legal, historical and religious situation in the city of Jerusalem, considering this an attempt to transform the political conflict based on the illegality of the occupation’s existence into a religious conflict.

The Commission called on the heads of churches to reject these illegal decisions that target Christian and Islamic religious existence. The Commission also called on the international community and all human rights organizations to condemn and confront these decisions and oblige Israel, as an occupying power, to stop its violations of international law and international legitimacy resolutions.
