Today, Sunday, members of the Nature Authority, accompanied by the occupation forces and settlers, stormed the children's cemetery in the town of Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The forces surrounded the cemetery, then the Nature Authority crews, accompanied by the settlers, began dismantling the metal fence around the cemetery, and hung a sign prohibiting burial in the cemetery, considering it a “public and open area.”

The cemetery land is owned by the Al-Ruwaidi family from Jerusalem, who in the mid-eighties endowed the land to be a cemetery for children. Over the course of a century, more than 200 children were buried there.

Over the past years, attempts to control the cemetery land by settlers and the Nature Authority have escalated, with repeated storming of it with the aim of annexing it to the “City of David” settlement, which is located on the lands of the town of Silwan.
