On Saturday, Israeli occupation forces transformed Jerusalem, particularly the Damascus Gate area and the Old City neighborhoods, into a military barracks, amid tight security measures coinciding with the Christian churches' celebration of Holy Saturday at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

A Jerusalem News correspondent reported that the occupation forces set up several military checkpoints on the roads leading to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, obstructing worshippers' access to it. They searched a number of young men, checked their IDs, and prevented many of them from entering.

The occupation forces have imposed strict military measures at the checkpoints surrounding Jerusalem, preventing thousands of Christians from the West Bank from reaching the city. Palestinians, both Muslims and Christians, continue to require special permits to cross checkpoints and access places of worship, particularly Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

In the same context, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates warned on Saturday of the danger of what is being circulated on platforms affiliated with settler organizations regarding intentions to bomb the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and build the alleged Temple in its place.

In a press release, the ministry considered these calls to be systematic incitement and a dangerous escalation in the targeting of Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem, stressing that the growing influence of the Israeli right gives it a sense of the possibility of implementing its Judaization and expansionist plans.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry called on the international community and its relevant UN institutions to seriously address this incitement and take the necessary measures required by international law to halt Israeli violations, curb the occupation government's isolation of the Palestinian people, compel it to comply with international law, and establish effective mechanisms to protect the Palestinian people and their holy sites from ongoing violations.
