The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) affirmed on Thursday that the Israeli occupation forces' storming of six UNRWA schools in occupied Jerusalem, forcing students and teachers to leave and closing them, constitutes a flagrant violation of international conventions and laws.
The movement said in a press statement that the Israeli raid on UNRWA schools is a direct attack on the United Nations system and its institutions.
She added that this criminal move comes within the context of the comprehensive war waged by the occupation against Palestinian existence and identity, particularly in occupied Jerusalem, as part of its frantic efforts to impose complete Judaization on the city.
Hamas called on the United Nations, its institutions, and all relevant international bodies and organizations to take urgent and effective action to halt these criminal violations, pressure schools to reopen, and ensure the return of more than 800 Palestinian children to school.
On Thursday, Israeli occupation police, accompanied by crews from the municipality and the Israeli Ministry of Education, closed UNRWA schools in the Shuafat refugee camp, Wadi al-Joz, and the towns of Silwan and Sur Baher in Jerusalem.
