The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned the Israeli occupation authorities' decision to close six UNRWA schools in Jerusalem.
In a statement, the organization considered this to be part of illegal measures and policies targeting the agency's presence and role, particularly in Jerusalem, as part of its unacceptable attempts to liquidate the Palestinian refugee issue and their inherent right of return.
She stressed that this decision constitutes a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter and its relevant resolutions, including Resolution 302, which established the mandate granted to the agency.
She warned of the consequences of depriving Palestinian refugee children of their basic right to education and of attempts to impose the Israeli curriculum on them.
She stressed that this is part of Israel's targeting of the rights of the Palestinian people and their presence in occupied Jerusalem.
The organization renewed its call on all countries to protect UNRWA and provide it with political, financial, and legal support, enabling it to continue its vital and irreplaceable role in serving millions of Palestinian refugees and ensuring their rights, in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions, including Resolution 194.
