Wadi Hilweh Information Center reported today, Saturday, that the crimes of the Zionist occupation led to the martyrdom of four Palestinians in the occupied city of Jerusalem, while the occupation forces arrested 1,896 Palestinians during the first half of 2022.
The center explained in a report, which arrived Jerusalem News Agency A copy of it states that “797 deportation decisions were issued during the first half of this year, including 387 deportation decisions from the Old City, 375 deportation decisions from Al-Aqsa Mosque, 15 deportation decisions from the city of Jerusalem, and two deportation decisions from the occupied West Bank preventing entry.”
The Information Center stated that “55 deportation orders were issued against women and girls, and the occupation authorities issued hundreds of deportation orders for field arrests (deportation from the place of detention), especially from the areas of Bab al-Amud, Bab al-Sahira, Sultan Suleiman and Salah al-Din Street, for periods ranging from 3 days to 2 months.”
The center added, “4 Palestinian martyrs were killed in Jerusalem within six months, 3 of them in Al-Aqsa and its gates, and the martyr journalist Shireen Abu Akleh in Jenin camp. The occupation authorities also continue to detain the bodies of 7 Jerusalemite martyrs in refrigerators, namely Misbah Abu Subaih since October 2016, Fadi Al-Qanbar since January 2017, the martyr of the prisoner movement Aziz Awisat since May 2018, Shaher Abu Khadija and Zahdi Al-Tawil since May 2021, Fadi Abu Shakhdam since November 2021, and Karim Al-Qawasmi since March 2022.”
The Information Center said, “Various violations and attacks by the occupation authorities took place in Al-Aqsa Mosque over the past months, including closing the mosque and preventing entry to it, besieging worshipers and mosques, beatings and mass arrests, and throwing tear gas bombs from a drone, sound bombs, and rubber bullets.”
The center pointed out that “the so-called Temple groups, with governmental and judicial cover and support, have greatly violated Al-Aqsa, through large group incursions into the mosque, performing public group prayers, and raising “Israeli” flags. Last June, the mosque witnessed extensive incursions on the anniversary of the so-called “Descent of the Torah - Shavuot,” and the number of intruders during the two days reached 1,052 settlers, while the occupation forces besieged the worshipers inside the Qibli Mosque, assaulted them, and carried out scattered arrests.”
The center pointed out that “during the occupation forces’ storming of Al-Aqsa during the month of Ramadan, and climbing onto the roof of the Qibli Mosque, the occupation forces smashed many of the gypsum windows of the Qibli Mosque, and the external doors of the mosque, and cut the speaker wires, and caused burns to the carpets due to sound bombs. The first half of 2022 witnessed daily arrests in the towns and neighborhoods of the city of Jerusalem, and unprecedented mass arrests from Al-Aqsa and the city streets during the suppression of various activities. At the beginning of the month of Ramadan, the occupation authorities formed a special investigation unit in the “Al-Maskoubiya” detention center in Jerusalem, especially the field ones, and allocated a section for security detainees in the Al-Maskoubiya detention center.”
The center monitored “1,896 cases of arrest from the city of Jerusalem, including 12 children “under the age of responsibility/under 12 years old”, 378 minors, and 93 females, including 3 girls,” noting that the month of April recorded the highest number of arrests with 793 cases of arrest, followed by the month of May with 401 cases of arrest, and the month of November with 214 cases of arrest.”
The center also explained that “field arrests recorded the largest percentage of arrests during the first half of 2022, especially from Al-Aqsa, where 640 arrests were recorded, while 469 arrests were recorded from the streets of Jerusalem adjacent to the Old City and Al-Aqsa roads. As for administrative arrests, the center monitored the transfer of 24 Jerusalemites to administrative detention, including Legislative Council members Muhammad Abu Teir and Ahmed Atoun,” noting that “the month of April recorded the highest number of cases in which administrative detention decisions were issued.”
The center revealed that “there were 80 demolitions in the city of Jerusalem, including 37 demolitions carried out by their owners “self-demolition”, to avoid paying fines and demolition fees to the municipality’s crews and machinery,” concluding its report by saying: “The demolitions targeted residential facilities “homes, residential rooms”, and among the homes was the home of the martyr Fadi Abu Shkhaydam “demolition and closure” in the Shuafat camp in Jerusalem, and the property of the Salihiya family in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood.”
