On Monday morning, the Israeli occupation forces stormed the home of the head of the Supreme Islamic Council and preacher of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Ikrima Sabri, in the Al-Sawana neighborhood in the center of occupied Jerusalem, and handed him a summons for investigation.

Sheikh Sabri said in press statements that elements of the occupation intelligence stormed his house in the Al-Sawana neighborhood and handed him a summons for investigation in rooms (4) at the “Al-Maskoubiya” Center, west of Jerusalem, for investigation at ten thirty this morning.

He explained that this summons comes against the backdrop of his statements regarding Al-Aqsa Mosque, noting that the occupation authorities aim, behind targeting Jerusalemite figures, to silence people, because it is not permissible to oppose the ongoing Israeli plans against Al-Aqsa.

Sabry added, "Our religious and strategic positions towards Al-Aqsa Mosque are firm and we will not back down from them, despite all the violations and measures they are practicing against us."

Sheikh Sabri had previously been subjected to Israeli violations and restrictions, and to right-wing incitement campaigns against his arrest and killing, due to his firm positions towards Al-Aqsa Mosque, and his statements rejecting the occupation, and denouncing its violations against the Palestinians and their sanctities.

During the past few years, he was arrested and summoned for investigation several times, banished from Al-Aqsa Mosque and its surroundings for several months, banned from traveling outside the country, and also banned from communicating with Palestinian figures from the occupied interior.
