On the day that the extremist Zionist Minister Itamar Ben Gvir stormed the Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and met with widespread Arab, Islamic and international condemnation, the Hebrew media came out with a set of demands from the extremist Temple groups aiming to change the status quo in the Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Yesterday, the newspaper “Israel Hayom” revealed demands presented to the security establishment by the Temple organizations to make changes in Al-Aqsa Mosque, most notably opening all gates to settlers even on holidays, Saturdays and in the evening, and allowing them to wear “tefillin” while they are inside the mosque, in addition to To allow them to enter Al-Aqsa Mosque individually and not in groups.
The Al-Hakel groups also demanded that the currently existing Mughrabi Gate Bridge be replaced with another permanent, stone, and luxurious bridge, which Jordan had previously rejected, according to “Israel Home.”
It is worth noting that there is an agreement between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ben Gvir stipulating that any change in the status quo in Al-Aqsa Mosque must be subject to the approval of the former.
The newspaper indicated that the demand regarding the entry of settlers individually requires changing the security instructions and the approach of the occupation police in Al-Aqsa. It currently accompanies the settlers during their collective raids, but if they enter individually it will be obligated to change the method of work to protect them.
Firas Yaghi, a specialist in Jerusalem affairs, believes that the demands presented by the Temple Trustees Association are an expression of the ideological program aimed at controlling the holy places in occupied Jerusalem, especially the courtyards of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and an attempt to impose a temporal and spatial division on Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Yaghi pointed out in a press statement that the settlers demanded entry through all doors, the introduction of plant and animal sacrifices, the identification of the synagogue and the performance of Talmudic prayers, as they wanted to change the reality inside Jerusalem and the holy places, according to their thought and ideological approach, which has no connection to the truth and the holy places. With an area of 144 dunams, it is exclusively for Muslims, and there is nothing for Jews inside it, according to all those searching for the Torah inside Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque area.
Yaghi pointed out that the settlers are implementing a program agreed upon between Ben Gvir and Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of the “Israeli” government, because the ruling coalition agreement and the occupation government are looking to impose a fait accompli on the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, indicating that there was previously talk about managing the conflict, and there was talk about a regime. It is in place and must be respected. Now they want to impose a fait accompli and end the conflict and resolve it in the sense that they have something inside the holy places, and they want to impose it by force, according to the agreement between Ben Gvir and Netanyahu.
Yaghi expected that this year would be a real confrontation with this government, because the talk is about an extreme right-wing, religious, racist government that is ready for confrontation and bloodshed, and wants to impose a new reality, which requires a comprehensive American and Arab position to put an end to this government and its actions.
Yaghi ruled out that the demands would be implemented, especially with the widespread criticism that Bin Ghafir stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque, as it is possible to impose sanctions on the government, and the Jerusalemites will not leave Al-Aqsa Mosque.
