Tens of thousands of Palestinians performed Friday prayers today in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, despite the occupation’s restrictions on checkpoints spread in and around Jerusalem.

The Islamic Endowments Department in Jerusalem said that more than 60,000 worshipers from the people of Jerusalem and the occupied interior, and those who were able to reach the mosque from the West Bank, performed prayers in its courtyards and covered chapels.

The occupation forces obstructed the arrival of hundreds of West Bank residents to the city of Jerusalem to perform Friday prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Friday prayers coincided with the occupation forces stopping citizens’ vehicles and public buses, and checking their ID cards in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood.

During the Friday sermon, Sheikh Ismail Nawahda, the preacher, affirmed that “Al-Aqsa Mosque is the crown of our pride and dignity and part of our Islamic faith by a divine decision that does not accept partnership or division.”

He called on Nawahida to travel to Al-Aqsa and pray there, asking the people of Jerusalem to be patient, steadfast, and united in the blessed mosque.

Al-Aqsa’s preacher spoke about the difficulties the nation faced during the past year, denouncing the “brutal normalization” with the occupation.
