Jerusalemite prisoner Hussein Muhammad Hussein Derbas (42 years old) enters his 23rd year in Israeli occupation prisons, today, Wednesday.
The prisoner Derbas was born in the town of Al-Issawiya, north of occupied Jerusalem, in the year 1982. Since his youth, he joined the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and with the outbreak of the second Palestinian Intifada (Al-Aqsa Intifada), Hussein participated in resistance activities to the Israeli occupation in his town of Al-Issawiya.
The Israeli occupation forces arrested Hussein Derbas on February 6, 2002, and after a harsh investigation by the occupation intelligence, he was sentenced to 25 years in prison on the “charge” of resisting the occupation in Jerusalem and joining a military cell affiliated with the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
Derbas was transferred between many occupation prisons and is today in Nafha prison, south of occupied Palestine, amid harsh measures from the occupation prison administration. He is one of the leaders of the Palestinian prisoner movement and representatives of the Democratic Front organization in the occupation prisons.
