Yesterday, Friday, the Great Mosque of Algiers hosted His Eminence Sheikh Akram Saeed Abdullah Sabri, the preacher of Al-Aqsa Mosque, head of the Supreme Islamic Council in Jerusalem, and former Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian territories, who gave a lesson in which he discussed the meanings and lessons of the miracle of Isra and Mi'raj.
Sheikh Ikrimah stressed the deep spiritual and historical connection between the Islamic nation, and Algeria in particular, and the city of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque, praising Algeria’s deep historical role in supporting the Palestinian people and the steadfastness of the people of Jerusalem in the face of the occupation.
Sheikh Sabry began his lesson by referring to the miracle of the Isra and Mi'raj, the journey with which God honored His Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace.
Explaining that it carries great symbolism, as God made Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem a starting point to the heavens above, which confirms its deep-rooted spiritual status in the Islamic faith.
Adding that Jerusalem is not just a city, but rather the “gateway of the earth to heaven.” On the Night of Isra, the sanctity of place and event came together, in an eternal connection between Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Grand Mosque, in a way that reflects the unity and faith of Muslims.
In his lesson, Sheikh Akram Sabri touched on the historical role of Moroccans, including Algerians, in protecting and supporting Al-Aqsa Mosque throughout the ages.
He pointed to the “Maghariba Gate”, one of the gates of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, which is historically linked to the people of the Maghreb. And the Moroccan Quarter adjacent to the western wall of Al-Aqsa Mosque. Which was removed after the Israeli occupation in 1967.
Historical and spiritual connection
Sheikh Sabri stressed that this historical and spiritual connection reflects the depth of the relationship that links Arabs and Muslims to Jerusalem.
Stressing the need to preserve and defend these symbols as an integral part of the Islamic identity, Sheikh Sabri said that Bab al-Maghariba is not just a historical landmark, but rather a symbol of the sacrifices made by Algerians and other Moroccans for the sake of Jerusalem.
The Al-Aqsa preacher paid tribute to the Algerian people and their leadership for their steadfast and honorable positions in supporting the Palestinian cause and Islamic sanctities.
Praising Algeria's steadfast historical role in supporting the rights of the Palestinian people and the steadfastness of the people of Jerusalem in the face of the occupation.
Sheikh Sabry described Algeria as “the country of loyalty and courage,” stressing that its positions have not changed throughout history. It remains a witness to its steadfast commitment to the Palestinian cause and its continuous defense of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque.
