The head of the Supreme Iftaa Council, His Eminence Sheikh Muhammad Hussein, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories, called on citizens and owners of printing presses to contact the Palestinian Iftaa House in Jerusalem and the Palestinian governorates regarding the printing of Ramadan calendars in order to verify the times and dates.
Sheikh Hussein said: Preparing and printing the calendars is a matter of worship related to two of the pillars of Islam, which are prayer and fasting, which requires observing the accuracy of the times so that Muslims can perform their worship in the correct manner.
He pointed out that some printing presses sometimes make mistakes unintentionally every year, calling on those concerned to be precise and careful when printing Ramadan calendars, demanding that the use of the word “imsak” before the dawn call to prayer be replaced with the phrase “the first call to prayer,” in order to avoid confusion that some people fall into, as they think that the call to imsak means abstaining from food and drink, “and this is a mistake, as abstaining is when the second dawn call to prayer begins, with which the time for the dawn prayer begins.”
The Mufti called on printing presses to adopt the times of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, taking into account the time differences in other cities, adding that citizens and printing press owners can view the daily prayer times that the Dar Al-Iftaa has printed and published.
