The Israeli occupation is not satisfied with falsifying Palestinian curricula, but has been working diligently since 2018 on a five-year plan to Israelize education in all Jerusalem schools.
The latest result of this plan was the Rosary Sisters School’s move to adopt the Israeli curriculum, “Bagrut,” in the upcoming academic year, after its administration deceived the students’ parents through an electronic questionnaire that asked them if they wanted their children to study this curriculum, which gives the occupation municipality legal legitimacy to impose the opening of “Bagrut” classes in schools.
It has become known that schools are not victims of this plan as they portray themselves to the Jerusalemite community. The questionnaire constitutes the legal cover and the first stage of opening the “Bagrut” exam, where the guardian has the right to demand the opening of a class in any school by informing the school administration.
Al-Wardiya School is one of the schools administratively affiliated with churches and charitable associations, which means that it receives huge amounts of funding annually. In addition to being one of the schools for the affluent class, it is one of the largest schools in terms of number and charges high fees from parents, and does not provide its services almost for free.
Special sources told an agency house holy For news The school received a grant from the occupation municipality in Jerusalem estimated at one million shekels in exchange for teaching the Israeli curriculum.
The occupation municipality is trying to control the educational curricula by targeting schools supervised by the Waqf and administratively affiliated with the Palestinian Ministry of Education. These schools include more than 12,000 students, in addition to private schools affiliated with churches, which include more than 27,000 students.
The municipality also seeks to close schools affiliated with UNRWA and replace them with schools affiliated with it.
The sources indicated that Al-Wardiya was the one who decided to start teaching the Israeli curriculum, thus violating the position of private schools not to teach it, and disregarding all national norms and values.
In the face of this plan, the Palestinian Ministry of Education has not provided any information about a confrontation plan, if any.
