On Tuesday, the Central Occupation Court in occupied Jerusalem approved the administrative detention decision for a period of 6 months against the Jerusalemite prisoner, Othman Ahmed Jalajel, from the Al-Thawri neighborhood in the town of Silwan, south of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, after rejecting an appeal submitted by lawyer Leah Tsemel.

Journalist Ahmed Jalajel, Othman’s father (20 years old), said: “Our son was supposed to be released last Friday after spending 6 months implementing the administrative detention decision, but the occupation authorities renewed his detention for another 6 months by a decision of the so-called Minister of Internal Security, Benny Gantz, under the pretext of the presence of... Secret file.”

He explained that he was surprised by the renewal of the administrative detention of his son Othman, as he was scheduled to be released from the Negev Desert Prison after the end of his first 6-month administrative detention period, and today, Tuesday, the decision was confirmed in the Central Occupation Court in occupied Jerusalem.

Jalajel added that the occupation forces summoned him several days ago, and the occupation intelligence contacted him to warn against holding parties or raising flags while receiving his liberated son.

He continued, “We were preparing to receive him, but the occupation’s injustice, arrogance, abuse, and assault on people, stones, and trees prevented us from meeting and embracing him outside the prisons. However, God’s destiny is stronger than everything, stressing that the decision is unjust and unjust.”

Last May, the occupation forces arrested the young man, Jalajel, while he was near the Majlis Gate, one of the doors of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque. Days later, the occupation authorities transferred Jalajel to administrative detention for a period of 6 months.

The occupation police also arrested him in 2020 from the Bab al-Rahma prayer hall in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and transferred him to the Al-Mascobiyya interrogation center, and he remained in the occupation cells for 20 days, during which he was subjected to harsh interrogation, including beatings, abuse, and being ghosted.

He was then released under difficult conditions, house arrest, and prevented from communicating on social sites, using his mobile phone, and communicating with his friends.

Administrative detention is a detention decision ordered by an Israeli military, claiming there is a security threat, without an indictment, and it is renewed for a period of 6 months, which can be extended.

The number of Palestinian prisoners in the occupation prisons until the end of last September reached 4,700, including 32 female prisoners, according to data from the Palestinian Prisoners’ Affairs Authority.
