On Saturday evening, the Israeli occupation forces prevented a meeting of the student parents’ committees in the Diwaniyah of the Arba’een neighborhood in the town of Issawiya in occupied Jerusalem.

A member of the Union of Parents’ Committees, Muhammad Abu Al-Homs, said that they were surprised by the occupation intelligence and soldiers storming Diwaniyah, removing all participants in the meeting, and closing the place.

Abu Al-Homs explained that the occupation forces closed Diwaniyah and posted an order on the door from the Minister of Internal Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, prohibiting the meeting on the grounds that it was under the auspices of the Palestinian Authority.

Abu Al-Homs pointed out that the occupation intelligence handed several people who participated in the meeting summons for investigation during the storming of the place, including the head of the Parents’ Committees Union, Ziyad Al-Shamali, Mahmoud Fayez, and lawyer Rami Saleh.

Abu Al-Homs stated that the meeting was organized to discuss the educational conditions in Jerusalem schools, and the shortage in the number of teachers, despite the passage of 4 months into the school year, in addition to the shortage of basic needs in schools, such as cleaning materials.

He pointed out that there is a shortage of teachers at the secondary school for boys in Al-Issawiya, and the occupation municipality and the Ministry of Education did not move any residents, despite repeated correspondence from the Parents Committee.
