The Hebrew newspaper “Maariv” claimed that the preacher of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Ikrimah Sabri, incites violence, supports martyrdom operations, and calls for confrontation with the occupation army, deploring his remaining outside the prison walls.
The newspaper said in the title of a report that appeared on its front page under the title “Instigators of Jerusalem” that Sheikh Sabri is “one of the major incitement machines against the Jews, and the state still allows such a person to roam freely.”
The report stated: “Sheikh Sabri supports martyrdom operations, calls on Muslims to bear martyrdom, and participates in (Hamas, Lebanese Hezbollah, and Islamic Jihad) events.”
The newspaper said that Sheikh Sabri “stands behind all acts of violence in Al-Aqsa Mosque,” asking, “Can someone explain to us how a rational state allows this person to roam freely?”
During the past months, Sheikh Sabri was subjected to a systematic and dangerous incitement campaign by right-wing settlement groups, which demanded his arrest under the pretext of “incitement to confront the Al-Aqsa raids and visit the families of the martyrs.”
