The Islamic Christian Committee for the Support of Jerusalem and the Holy Sites warned of the danger of the collective punishment law passed by the Israeli Knesset, which gives the Minister of Interior the authority to expel Jerusalemite families from the city of Jerusalem under security pretexts and allegations.
The Commission said in a statement yesterday, Sunday, that the legislation of this law, which enables the occupation to practice a policy of mass expulsion against the people of Jerusalem under flimsy pretexts and excuses, is a war crime and a new form of systematic state terrorism that the occupation authorities have begun to practice openly.
The Commission stressed that the legalization of the expulsion of Jerusalemites from their land and homes constitutes an insult to all human values and principles, and an unprecedented violation of international humanitarian law and the Fourth Geneva Convention, which considered the forced deportation of citizens under occupation a war crime whose perpetrators must be punished.
