Prisoner Walid Daqqa is 60 years old, and he is from the town of Baqa al-Gharbiyya in the Palestinian territories occupied in 1948.

He is considered one of the most prominent writers and thinkers of the Palestinian prisoner movement.

The occupation forces arrested Walid during the year 1986, and the occupation initially sentenced him to death, which was later commuted to 37 years in prison. After that, the occupation court added another two years to his sentence.

During the year 1999, he was married to his wife, Sanaa Salama, and during the year 2020, they had their daughter, Milad, through the smuggling of freed sperm.

Al-Daqqa suffers from multiple health problems, including respiratory diseases and inflammation of the right lung. He was diagnosed with spinal cord cancer last December, and it was decided that his treatment would be medication, not chemotherapy.
