After announcing expected escalatory steps in rejection of the occupation municipality’s attempts to impose the distorted Palestinian curriculum on it, a committee of parents of students in Al-Iman schools issued a booklet under the title “Education...The Silent War in Jerusalem.”

The booklet was distributed electronically through many Jerusalemite platforms and media outlets, and included 13 places as examples of Zionist distortion directed at national and religious contents in the curriculum book known as the “Book of National and Social Upbringing,” clarifying the extent of the distortion and manipulation of it.

The booklet did not stop there, as it included definitions of concepts such as: the Israelization of education, the gradual implementation of this plan by the occupation authorities, and the occupation’s goal in doing so, to create a “new Arab” or “new Palestinian” who lacks identity and self-respect, and is grateful to those who oppressed him and occupied his land. Indeed, the distorted curriculum includes a lesson in which a song glorifies the Nakba of the Palestinian people, under the name “Independence Day Song.”

The booklet “Education - The Silent War in Jerusalem” limited the aspects of distortion in the book “National and Social Education” to several axes, namely:

  1. Separating Jerusalem from the Palestinian issue, and deleting everything related to it being the capital of Palestine.
  2. Changing the student’s awareness of Al-Aqsa Mosque, targeting the historical geography of Palestine, and limiting its borders to the West Bank and Gaza only.
  3. Falsifying the ancient history of Palestine, erasing the new history, deleting and manipulating religious texts, or inserting baseless hadiths and interpreting religious texts as it serves their goals.
  4. Covering up the crimes of the occupation.
  5. Targeting the personality of the Jerusalemite student, erasing the texts that build courage and determination in them, and consolidating the idea of a two-state solution binding on the Palestinian side only, ensuring the erasure of the right of return and its submission to the occupier.

The booklet concluded by calling on Palestinians and all the people of Jerusalem to adopt a long-term strategy to defend the education sector in Jerusalem in the face of the powerful waves of Israelization.
