The town of Jabal al-Mukaber, south of occupied Jerusalem, was set to witness a busy day of raids and incursions by the occupation forces, during the daylight hours of today, Wednesday, 1/3/2024.
Since the morning hours, the occupation forces stormed the Al-Jadeera neighborhood in Jabal Al-Mukaber in preparation for demolishing the house of Iyad Ishtiwi there, and carried out a raid on the house.
Many citizens flocked to the vicinity of the house to prevent the demolition, and clashes erupted in which the occupation forces used batons to beat the citizens and fired rubber bullets at them, while the occupation's reconnaissance planes flew over the town, and the town's youth were able to snatch the weapon of one of the occupation soldiers during the clashes.
At the same time, the occupation forces surrounded a residential building containing a house and a shop for the Shakirat family in the town, and the confrontations continued in several areas of Jabal al-Mukaber.
The occupation forces closed the main streets in Jabal al-Mukaber and prevented ambulances and crews from reaching the wounded, in a scene that mimics what the occupation forces are doing in other areas of the West Bank.
The occupation forces carried out an arrest campaign in Jabal al-Mukaber, which included 11 citizens, who were taken by the occupation to detention and investigation centers in occupied Jerusalem.
Bulldozers demolished the property of citizen Iyad Shteiwi, which consisted of commercial shops and two residential apartments where he lived with his family of three boys and two girls, while they destroyed cars located in the vicinity of Shaqirat’s house.
The town of Jabal al-Mukaber is subjected to repeated raids by the occupation forces in the context of the occupation’s implementation of the policy of collective punishment of citizens in Jerusalem and its towns.
