On the first night of Ramadan, yesterday, Sunday, the Israeli occupation forces continued the siege of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and obstructed their entry to perform Tarawih prayers in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, amid military restrictions in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem.
The occupation forces prevented Palestinians from entering to perform Tarawih prayers through Bab al-Qattanin, one of the main gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque, in a flagrant violation of Muslims and restricting their right to worship.
Despite the occupation's restrictions and barriers, thousands of Palestinians flocked to Al-Aqsa Mosque to perform the first Tarawih prayer of the month of Ramadan.
The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian territories, and Chairman of the Supreme Fatwa Council, Sheikh Muhammad Hussein, announced this evening, Sunday, that tomorrow, Monday, is the first day of the blessed month of Ramadan.
Hussein said: “From the vastness of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, the first of the two qiblahs, the second of the two mosques, and the third of the mosques to which travelers are drawn, we congratulate Muslims in the east and west of the earth, and our Palestinian people in the homeland and in the diaspora, on the arrival of this blessed month.”
