Yesterday evening, Saturday, Jordanian security forces arrested the researcher specializing in Jerusalem affairs, Ziad Ibhais, as he was leaving a popular gathering near the Israeli occupation embassy in the capital, Amman.

A number of security personnel in civilian clothes raided Ibhais while he was heading to his car after the security forces dispersed a gathering near the occupation embassy in the vicinity of the Al-Kaluti Mosque area in the Rabieh neighborhood, west of Amman, and took him to a security center.

Several security men went to Ibhis house, conducted a thorough search of the house, and confiscated many papers and all telephone and computer devices from his house.

The security services transferred Ibhais to the General Intelligence headquarters in the capital, Amman, and the “charge” on which he was arrested has not yet become clear.

It is worth noting that Ziad Ibhais is a researcher specializing in Jerusalem affairs. He holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Jordan, a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the International Islamic University in Malaysia, and a Bachelor’s degree in Fundamentals of Jurisprudence from the same university.

Ibhis worked as head of the Media and Research Department at the Al-Quds International Foundation in the period 2004-2007, and served as its executive director in the period 2008-2010. He worked as a consultant in the reconstruction program of the Old City of Jerusalem, which is based on the Jordanian Engineers Association from 2013-2018, and an external researcher with the International Jerusalem Foundation since 2015.
