The people of the Jerusalem town of Silwan expressed their adherence to their land, following the Elad settlement organization’s announcement of the start of Judaizing excavations in the land of Birkat al-Hamra, which was forcefully seized yesterday in the town located south of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Shadi Samreen, one of the owners of Al-Hamra land in Silwan, said, “We were surprised by the presence of settlers this morning on our land, and that they placed a fence on it,” pointing out that the settlers who took control of the land belong to the “Elad” settlement group.

Samrin stated that the settlers aim, through their control of the Al-Hamra land, to establish a Biblical garden for them, noting that the lawyer submitted a letter to the court to stop the settlers’ work on the land, with attached contracts dating back to the year 1928.

Confrontations broke out with the occupation forces yesterday evening, following renewed occupation attacks in the town of Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem.

Dozens of settlers attacked the residents of Wadi Hilweh in the town of Silwan, and seized the 5-dunum land of Al-Hamra in the Ein area, under the protection of occupation soldiers.

The land has belonged to the Samrin family for more than seventy years, and it is located in an important location in the town that is threatened by Judaization. The occupation forces and settlers attacked the residents while they were trying to defend their land, and five young men from the Samrin family were arrested.

Recent years have witnessed intense Judaization operations in the area northwest of the town of Silwan, and during the Judaization projects a climbing wall and a park were built near the Al-Thawri neighborhood.

It is noteworthy that the occupation authorities are continuing their Judaization plans in the occupied city of Jerusalem, coinciding with the increase in the frequency of repeated settlers’ incursions into the courtyards of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, with the protection of the occupation army.
