Prisoner Raed Rayan (27 years old), from the village of Beit Duqqu, northwest of Jerusalem, continues his hunger strike for the 88th consecutive day, in rejection of his administrative detention.
The prisoner, Rayan, suffers from headaches and joint pains, and is unable to walk and moves around in a wheelchair.
The occupation forces re-arrested “Rayan” on November 3, 2021, and transferred him to administrative detention for 6 months. When his detention period was about to end, it was renewed for an additional 4 months, and he announced an open hunger strike.
In previous arrests in the occupation prisons, “Rayan” spent nearly 21 months under administrative detention.
According to bodies concerned with prisoners’ affairs, the occupation authorities arrested 2,709 Palestinians during the first third of the current year 2022.
By the end of last May, the number of Palestinian prisoners in occupation prisons reached about 4,700, including 32 women and 170 minors, while the number of administrative detainees reached about 640.
For 184 consecutive days, administrative detainees in the occupation prisons have continued to boycott the occupation courts, demanding an end to the policy of administrative detention under the slogan “Our decision is freedom.”
