Jerusalem News Agency Follow-ups
An Israeli was killed and 47 others were injured in two explosions that occurred in the city of Jerusalem on Wednesday morning, and initial estimates indicate that they occurred using explosive devices, as part of a joint operation.
The first explosion occurred at the central bus station near the village of Deir Yassin, west of Jerusalem. The occupation police said in a statement that an explosion occurred at exactly seven o’clock and five minutes in the morning at a bus station at the “Givat Shaul” intersection.
Israeli media, including Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, reported that a suitcase bomb was placed at the bus station and caused the explosion, leading to the death of an Israeli and 11 injuries, including one in critical condition, and two in serious condition.
A short time later, another explosion occurred in the Ramot settlement on the road between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, which was confirmed by the occupation police in its statement, noting that it occurred only half an hour after the first explosion. As a result, 3 settlers were slightly injured.
Following the explosion, the occupation police announced the closure of all entrances to the city of Jerusalem, raised the state of alert, and began combing all central stations in anticipation of the presence of more explosive devices, indicating that they are currently searching for the perpetrators of the two explosions.
Occupation Army Minister Benny Gantz held a consultation session with army commanders and the Shin Bet to assess the situation, and Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid will hold a meeting this afternoon to assess the situation.
It is noteworthy that the last bombing operation that Jerusalem witnessed was in April 2016, carried out by the martyr Abdul Hamid Abu Sorour from Bethlehem, on an Israeli bus, which caused a number of deaths and injuries.
