The Director General of the Islamic Endowments and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department, Sheikh Azzam Al-Khatib, warned of the escalating violations of the Israeli occupation against the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, noting that 48,238 is the number of settlers who stormed the mosque during the year.
Al-Khatib said in a statement circulated by the Islamic Endowments Department today, Thursday, that the year 2022 was the most prominent and highest in terms of violations against the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, as the intensity and frequency of incursions increased during this year.
He pointed out that the violations committed by the occupation authorities against the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque did not stop at militarizing the courtyards and turning the mosque into a military barracks, but rather went beyond that to extremist Jewish groups engaging in provocative actions against the feelings of Muslims, such as prostrating prayers, performing public Talmudic rituals, chanting, singing and dancing inside the courtyards.
He added, "In addition to raising Israeli flags inside the courtyards of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque on Jewish occasions and holidays during this year, they do not care about what this mosque represents as it is part of the faith of two billion Muslims around the world."
He pointed out that the violations took place amid dangerous and rapid developments led by extremist right-wing Israeli governments that will lead to igniting a religious war in the region and the world.
He stressed the Islamic nature of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, with its area of 144 dunams and all its features and facilities above and below ground, and that it is a pure mosque for Muslims alone in all parts of the world, and does not accept division or partnership despite all attempts to change the religious, historical and legal status of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque that has existed for a long time.
He stressed the need for everyone to rally around the guardianship of King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein and support it in preserving the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, foremost among which is the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.
