The Israeli General Security Service (Shin Bet) and the Israeli Police announced in a joint statement today, Tuesday, that on November 29, engineer Islam Farroukh (26 years old), from Kafr Aqab in northern occupied Jerusalem, was arrested on suspicion of The bombing was carried out near a bus station in Jerusalem, on the 23rd of last month, and resulted in the death of two “Israelis” and the injury of twenty others.

According to the statement, Farroukh is a machine engineer, and during his investigation, suspicions arose that he worked under the influence of a Salafist-jihadist ideology and that he identified with ISIS.

The statement added that Farroukh carried out the bombing alone, after planning it for a long time, “to target Israeli citizens in Jerusalem.”

Shin Bet investigators and the Central Police Unit in the Jerusalem area had collected evidence and clues, with the help of the “Israeli” occupation army, with the aim of determining the identity of the bomber. At the end of the week in which the bombing occurred, hidden suspicious items were found in an open area near the “Maale Adumim” settlement in the West Bank, including a motorcycle suspected to have been used by Farroukh, a helmet, 5 mines, and clothes that Farroukh wore before, during and after the bombing.

In addition, the Shin Bet and the police arrested a number of Palestinians under suspicion.

During the investigation with Farroukh, it was found that he had read the contents and learned from them how to make explosive materials. According to the statement, Farroukh conducted experiments in a well he dug in the Ramallah area.

The statement added that the well was found and blown up, and raw materials for making mines were hidden in it. A “Carlo” weapon was seized from Farroukh’s possession. During his pursuit, a mine was seized, ready to be operated, and he intended to carry out other bombing operations.

Farroukh's detention was extended several times in court. Today, the police submitted a statement of claim against him, and it is expected that an indictment will be filed against him in the coming days, in which the “Israeli” prosecution will accuse him of charges related to a “terrorist act” and “murder.”

During the investigation into this case, a number of Palestinians were arrested, “but it became clear during their investigation that they were not involved in the operation,” with the exception of one suspect, “whom it became clear during his investigation that he had planned, on his own and without any connection to the bombing in Jerusalem, to carry out another operation in the central station area in Jerusalem. The suspect was in the planning stages. His detention has been extended and an indictment is expected to be filed against him in the coming days,” according to the statement.
