Mohammed Al-Sharqawi, the director in charge of managing the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency, called on members of the Arab Cities Organization to allocate part of their budgets to support social projects in Jerusalem, to enhance the steadfastness of its residents and preserve its identity.
During the opening of the 62nd session of the Executive Council of the Arab Cities Organization in Tangier, Al-Sharqawi stressed that Morocco has adopted a successful model of support based on governance, effective management, and forward-looking vision, which has yielded tangible results.
He pointed to the challenges facing Jerusalem, especially in light of the successive economic crises that hinder recovery; he also explained that the agency, under the directives of King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, continued its commitment to supporting the people of Jerusalem, as it implemented social and humanitarian projects worth $4.2 million during the past year, fully funded by the Kingdom of Morocco.
Al-Sharqawi added that the meeting of Arab cities in Tangier reflects a renewed commitment to Jerusalem, and confirms Morocco's firm position in supporting the issues of Jerusalem and its residents.
For his part, the Governor of Jerusalem, Adnan Ghaith, praised the continuous support provided by King Mohammed VI to Jerusalem and the people of Jerusalem, stressing that the Holy City will remain the focus of the Arab and Islamic nation.
Ghaith said: “In light of the escalating attack on Jerusalem and efforts to change its features, the city will remain the focus of King Mohammed VI and all free and honorable people in the world.”
