A memorandum of understanding was signed in the city of Tangier between the Tangier City Council and the Governorate of the Holy City of Jerusalem, with the aim of strengthening cooperation and partnership between the two cities in various areas of common interest.
The agreement was signed by the President of the Tangier City Council, Mounir Limouri, and the Governor of the Holy City of Jerusalem, Adnan Ghaith, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Arab Cities Organization and members of the Executive Council of the Organization, on the sidelines of the 62nd meeting of the Executive Council.
The memorandum aims to establish the foundations for cooperation between the two cities, through the exchange of experiences and best practices, in the context of the distinguished relations between Morocco and Palestine, and reflects the commitment of both sides to enhance cooperation between the two cities in various fields, especially in the cultural field, where youth and cultural activities will be supported, and joint forums and exhibitions will be organized to introduce the historical and cultural heritage of both cities. The cooperation also includes the exchange of experiences in organizing cultural and artistic events, and enhancing scientific research between academic institutions, in addition to joint work to enhance tangible and intangible heritage.
At the service level, the agreement seeks to develop municipal performance and improve the quality of public services through the exchange of experiences and expertise, in addition to developing training programs to enhance the administrative and technical capabilities of the employees of the two communities. The memorandum also includes establishing mechanisms for exchanging visits between officials of the two cities and benefiting from training courses and professional development programs, which contributes to strengthening the partnership and sustainable cooperation between the two parties.
The meeting also witnessed the signing of two additional memoranda of understanding, the first between the Moroccan Association of Presidents of Municipal Councils and the Arab Cities Organization, and the second with the Arab Institute for Urban Development, to enhance cooperation in urban policies and support training and education programs.
