3 days of continuous fighting in Ain al-Hilweh camp between fighters from the Fatah movement and members of Islamic groups not linked to any party in the national and Islamic forces in the camp.
The events began on Friday with limited clashes and an attempt to assassinate a person in the camp. The next day, when the Palestinian National Security Commander, Abu Fathi Al-Armushi, went to hand over those involved in the shooting to the Lebanese authorities, he was assassinated along with 4 of his companions.
Clashes erupted in the camp between the Palestinian security forces and Fatah movement fighters on the one hand, and Islamic elements not linked to the national and Islamic forces in the camp, known as “Jund al-Sham” and “Muslim Youth,” and various types of weapons were used in the camp.
Palestinian refugees are the only ones paying the price in these absurd clashes, which coincided with the visit of the Oslo Authority intelligence official and the godfather of security coordination, Majed Faraj, to Lebanon, and the mouthpiece of the camp people: “If Israel does not kill us, we will kill each other.”
The toll of the clashes amounted to about 7 martyrs and about 50 wounded, and the damage extended from Ain al-Hilweh camp to the city of Sidon (the capital of the resistance).
In an interview with Al-Mayadeen TV, the head of the International Union of Resistance Scholars, Sheikh Maher Hammoud, said: “What happened in the Ain al-Hilweh camp was very surprising to us, and the situation boils down to the fact that a group from Fatah does not want to adhere to the ceasefire, but rather seeks revenge for the killing of Al-Armushi.”
Hammoud added: “Majed Faraj is responsible for security coordination with Israel, and this is something that has been agreed upon, and a number of Fatah leaders do not agree with this matter.”
Hammoud concluded his speech by saying: “Our brothers in the Fatah movement must put a question mark about the role of Majid Faraj and his relationship with “Israel” and about what is happening in Ain al-Hilweh.”
