In light of the state of chaos affecting the Palestinian institutions, which are affiliated with the Palestinian National Authority in its various official and semi-official forms in the occupied territories in general and Jerusalem in particular, a new administrative crisis has emerged over the past few days, and this time, in the Palestinian Red Crescent Hospital, in the Al-Sawana neighborhood, east of the Old City. This crisis is summed up in the attempt of certain parties to impose their control and authority over this important Palestinian facility, and this great national edifice in occupied Jerusalem, and these frantic attempts continue without any legal logic based on the rules and regulations that regulate the work of the hospital.
In this context, Ziad Al-Hamouri, Director of the Jerusalem Center for Economic and Social Rights, confirmed in an interview with the Beit Al-Maqdis Agency that there are some employees who tried to rebel against the institution’s laws. Al-Hamouri said: “As we heard, and in my belief, periodic elections must be held and not obstructed.”
Al-Hammouri adds: “I believe that there is a group of undisciplined employees who tried to rebel against the decisions of the director in charge of running this hospital, which led to a conflict that can be contained if arbitration and control return to the law that governs and regulates the rhythm of work at all administrative, medical, financial, and other levels.”
Al-Hamouri concludes his speech by saying: “I address the head of the Red Crescent Authority in Ramallah, Dr. Younis Al-Khatib, as well as the member of the Executive Committee of the Liberation Organization, Mr. Wasel Abu Youssef, to give this great national edifice more care and precision in any decision that may be taken.”
In conclusion, it is not a secret if we say that attempts to divide up national institutions are continuing, and will not stop, by some to take over the national institutions in Jerusalem. These attempts are fueled by the presence of some influential stakeholders in the decision-making center in Ramallah, where there is an absence of oversight and integrity over official Palestinian work.
The situation of national institutions in Jerusalem will also remain vulnerable to takeover and quotas, unless the Jerusalemite community wakes up and works to find a unified national reference that governs and regulates Palestinian official and civil work in Jerusalem, the first line of defense for Palestine and the Palestinians.
