Yesterday evening, Thursday evening, the Israeli occupation authorities released the former Jerusalem Minister who was forcibly deported from the city of Jerusalem, Khaled Abu Arafa, after 14 months of administrative detention.

The occupation forces arrested Abu Arafa on May 2, 2023 from his temporary residence in Ramallah, transferred him to administrative detention, and renewed his administrative detention several times.

During his captivity, Abu Arafa suffered from kidney stones, blood pressure and diabetes, and a significant loss of weight. The occupation soldiers also broke his eyeglasses during the assault on him after the Al-Aqsa Flood operation last October.

Abu Arafa was subjected to a series of continuous attacks and restrictions by the occupation, as he was arrested several times and deported from Al-Aqsa Mosque and the city of Jerusalem.

Abu Arafa fought a legal war against the occupation government’s decision to withdraw his Jerusalemite identity, which lasted for a long time, until a decision was issued on September 13, 2017 by the occupation Supreme Court invalidating the withdrawal of his identity. However, the occupation Minister of the Interior issued a new decision to withdraw his identity on March 10, 2018.
