Today, Thursday, prisoner Maher Muhammad Matar will be released from captivity after 23 years of captivity in Israeli occupation prisons.
The occupation forces arrested Matar on 7/17/2001 after he participated in the activities of the Second Intifada (Al-Aqsa Intifada) in Jerusalem.
When he was arrested, Matar left behind a family consisting of his wife and 3 children.
Matar hails from Qalandia camp, north of Jerusalem, to a Palestinian family displaced from the village of Bir Ma'in, southeast of the city of Ramla.
